Rhythm Dance Studio | Competition Program

Rhythm Dance Studio believes competition allows a dancer the opportunity to showcase their talent, demonstrate what they have learned; and demonstrate at what they have been working so very hard.

Getting on stage is not just a performance, it is part of the solid building blocks upon which outstanding character and confidence is built.

Teenies/Rhythminis Jazz (6-9 years)
Teenies/Mini Tap (6-9 years)
Rhythmites (10-13 years)
Junior Tap (10-13 years)
Rhythmettes (13-15 years)
Teen/Senior Tap (13 years & up)
Rhythm (15 years & up)

Some important items to note:

Ballet - Every student is required to take the ballet audition. Ballet scores are necessary for placement of levels and for judging aptitude and technique. The ballet scores are combined with the jazz scores for the final results.

Dress Code - It is important to dress neatly and appropriately
for auditions (leotard and tights). Hair should be neat and in a bun.
Proper shoes should be worn respectively. (We encourage a dancer
to let their personality shine!)

Format - The entire class is taught a new combination of 16 - 32 counts
to be performed in small groups before qualified and impartial judges.

Notification - Results are mailed.

*Rhythm Dance Studio competes at approximately five to six Regional and/or
National well-known and reputable dance competitions, all of which are mandatory.

Deciding to compete takes dedication and hard work, in addition to a solid commitment on both a dancer's as well as a parent's part... but it will without question reap many rewards!

Once a year, Rhythm Dance Studio holds auditions for students (as well as newcomers) who are interested in having a place on one of the many teams, giving them an ideal opportunity to show us what they are made of and what they got! All present/past team members are required to audition every year. These auditions are very much geared for new students, but work nicely for the current student. Information will be posted on our website in a timely manner, so remember to bookmark Rhythm News.
